Kochville Township, Mich. — Authorities have identified one of the victims in a devastating crash that claimed two lives early Wednesday morning. The Saginaw County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Joseph Granger, 49, of Saginaw, was one of the men killed in the tragic collision at the intersection of Lawndale Road and Kochville Road.
Deputies responded to the scene around 12:53 a.m. on October 15, where they found Granger deceased near the roadway. A second victim, a 42-year-old man from Alma, was transported to a nearby hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.
Preliminary reports indicate that Granger had been driving a silver GMC Yukon towing a single-axle trailer and had come to a stop on Lawndale Road, just south of Kochville Road. Investigators believe Granger may have been outside the vehicle when a red Dodge Ram, driven by the Alma man, collided with the trailer, the Yukon, and Granger himself.
Both vehicles sustained heavy damage in the crash. The sheriff’s office continues to investigate the circumstances leading up to the Yukon’s stoppage in the roadway.
Authorities extend their condolences to the families affected by this heartbreaking loss.
