MESQUITE, Texas — Authorities have identified the woman found shot to death inside a Mesquite home on Sunday as 42-year-old Keisha Hilliard, according to the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Mesquite Police officers responded to a welfare check around 4:18 p.m. on October 12, 2025, in the 2000 block of Avis Circle. When officers arrived, they were met by concerned family members who had been unable to contact Hilliard. After attempts to reach anyone inside failed, officers made the decision to forcibly enter the home.
Once inside, they discovered Hilliard deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. Authorities have since classified her death as a homicide, though no arrests or suspect details have been released at this time.
The Mesquite Police Department and Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Officials are urging anyone with information related to this case to contact the Mesquite Police Department’s non-emergency line or Crime Stoppers to assist in the ongoing investigation.
As the investigation continues, the Mesquite community mourns the loss of Keisha Hilliard, whose life was tragically cut short in this senseless act of violence.
