Austin Police Identify Victim in Rutland Drive 7-Eleven Shooting

Austin, TX – The Austin Police Department has identified the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred early Sunday morning in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven on Rutland Drive. The victim has been named as 37-year-old Quinton Arnold, whose life was tragically cut short in what authorities are investigating as Austin’s 47th homicide of 2025.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire around 3:00 a.m. at the 7-Eleven located in the 1800 block of Rutland Drive. When they arrived, they found Arnold lying on the ground next to his vehicle with gunshot wounds. Despite emergency efforts, he was pronounced deceased at 4:19 a.m.

According to preliminary findings, Arnold was standing beside his vehicle when a passing car pulled up and opened fire, striking him before fleeing the scene. The suspect’s vehicle sped away, and police are now working to identify those responsible.
