BUCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. — A tragic crash in Buckingham County claimed the life of 59-year-old John J. Jamerson Jr. of Dillwyn, Virginia, on Wednesday evening, October 15, 2025, according to the Virginia State Police.
The fatal accident occurred around 8:15 p.m. on Rock Mill Road, near the intersection with Arcanum Road. Investigators reported that Jamerson was driving a 2003 Ford Explorer southbound when the vehicle veered off the right side of the road. The SUV struck a culvert and then collided with a tree stump, sustaining severe damage.
Tragically, Jamerson was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed that he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. No other vehicles were involved, and no passengers were in the car.
Virginia State Police troopers are continuing their investigation to determine what factors may have led to the vehicle leaving the roadway.
