PEORIA, Ill. — Authorities have identified the victim in a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred Thursday night in Peoria as 32-year-old Eric Williams of Bartonville.

According to the Peoria County Coroner’s Office, the crash happened around 9:30 p.m. near the intersection of Airport Road and Monroe. When emergency crews arrived, they found Williams deceased at the scene.

An autopsy conducted Friday revealed that Williams likely died instantly after being struck. Coroner Jamie Harwood reported that Williams suffered multiple, severe blunt force trauma injuries and confirmed that he had been struck more than once.

Investigators have not yet released additional details about the vehicle or vehicles involved in the incident. The crash remains under investigation by the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office and the Coroner’s Office.

Officials have not announced whether any charges are expected or if impairment or speed may have been contributing factors.
