HENRY COUNTY, Va. – The Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that claimed the life of an 80-year-old woman on Thursday, October 16. The crash occurred around 12:45 p.m. on A.L. Philpott Highway near Preston Road.
Authorities report that a 2012 Ford Fusion, driven by Cinderella Williams Carr of Patrick Springs, was leaving the Dollar General parking lot when it failed to yield the right of way while making a left turn. The vehicle was struck by a 2019 Mack Granite truck traveling eastbound on the highway.
Ms. Carr, who was wearing her seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Mack truck was unharmed. No charges have been filed, and the Virginia State Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The tragedy has left the Henry County community shaken, as neighbors and friends remember Ms. Carr as a beloved member of the area. Authorities continue to emphasize the importance of careful driving, especially when entering or exiting parking lots and side roads.
