LAKE STATION, Ind. — The Lake County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the tragic death of Benard Taylor, 21, of Lake Station, following a fatal incident early Sunday morning, October 19, 2025.
At approximately 5:42 a.m., the Coroner’s Office and Medicolegal Death Investigation team were dispatched to 2626 Central Ave., Lake Station. Family members later positively identified Taylor at the Coroner’s Office.
According to official reports, Taylor sustained a lacerating wound, and his death has been classified as a homicide. He was pronounced deceased at 6:21 a.m. by a Lake County Coroner Investigator.
A forensic autopsy will be conducted at the Lake County Forensic Center in Crown Point to determine further details surrounding his death.
The investigation involves multiple agencies, including the Lake Station Police Department, Lake Station Fire Department, and Indiana State Police CSI. Officials have not released additional information regarding suspects or motives, and the case remains under active investigation.
This heartbreaking loss has left the Lake Station community in mourning as they grapple with the death of a young man whose life was cut far too short.
