BAYSIDE, Texas – A 65-year-old Bayside man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Saturday afternoon, October 18, along FM 3284 near Gregory, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
Staff Sergeant Rob Mallory of the DPS reported that troopers responded to the scene at approximately 12:09 p.m. following reports of a crash with entrapment.
The investigation revealed that a 2024 Chevy Blazer, driven by Donald Humphrey, 65, of Bayside, was traveling northeast on FM 3284 when it left the roadway on a curve and entered a ditch. The impact caused the front of the vehicle to strike the ground, leading it to roll over FM 136, hit a culvert, and become airborne before coming to rest in a private yard.
Humphrey, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was trapped inside and succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Justice of the Peace Precinct 4 Judge Karen Diaz pronounced him deceased.
The crash remains under investigation by troopers from the Sinton Highway Patrol Office, who are working to determine what factors led to the tragic accident.
