HAMILTON, N.Y – The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash that occurred Sunday evening on Route 12 in the Town of Hamilton.
According to deputies, the crash happened just before 5 p.m. near the intersection of Tackabury Road. Preliminary reports indicate that a car traveling on Tackabury Road attempted to turn onto Route 12 and entered the path of an oncoming pickup truck, resulting in a serious collision.
Officials say 70-year-old Laurie Jones, of East Amherst, was a passenger in the car and suffered critical injuries in the crash. She was transported to Hamilton Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Authorities have not yet released details on the condition of the other individuals involved, and the investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing. Deputies are reviewing evidence and speaking with witnesses to determine the sequence of events leading up to the collision.
