DODGE CITY, Kan — A 31-year-old Dodge City man has been arrested after reportedly admitting to fatally shooting his wife, Emma Prieto, early Monday morning.
Police say officers responded at approximately 5:45 a.m. to reports of gunfire in the 3000 block of Gary Avenue. When they arrived, a man approached officers and told them he had just shot his wife, the Dodge City Police Department said in a release.
Prieto was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect was taken into custody without incident and reportedly confessed to the shooting during initial questioning. Authorities have not released details regarding a motive or the circumstances leading up to the incident.
