OKEECHOBEE, Fla. — The Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide after a man was found dead inside a vehicle early Sunday morning.
Deputies responded to a 911 call reporting an unresponsive man inside a vehicle at the Debbie Park Trailer Park, located in the 400 block of NE 31st Terrace. When law enforcement and emergency medical personnel arrived, they discovered the victim, identified as 40-year-old Santos Gaucin of Okeechobee, deceased inside the car.
According to investigators, a resident first noticed the vehicle had crashed and, upon approaching it, found Gaucin unresponsive and bleeding before calling 911. An initial examination revealed that Gaucin had suffered an apparent gunshot wound.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
