STRATFORD, Conn. — The Stratford community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Ryan Julian, a recent Bunnell High School graduate and beloved football player, who tragically lost his life in a car crash early Saturday morning on Nichols Avenue.
According to Stratford police, the single-vehicle crash occurred around 3:35 a.m. in the 1100 block of Nichols Avenue when a car carrying five people struck a tree. The occupants, ranging in age from 16 to 24, were from Stratford and Bridgeport. Authorities reported that three individuals sustained minor injuries, one was critically injured, and Ryan was pronounced deceased at the scene. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
“Stratford Public Schools is heartbroken by the loss of Ryan Julian, a 2025 Bunnell High School graduate and member of our football community,” Acting School Superintendent Heather M. Borges said. “Our thoughts are with Ryan’s family, friends, teammates, and the entire community during this difficult time.” Counseling services have been made available to students and staff affected by the tragedy.
The Bunnell Varsity Football team also shared a heartfelt tribute on social media, remembering Ryan for his dedication, positive spirit, and growth both on and off the field. “Ryan will be remembered for his spirit, dedication, and the positive growth he made during his high school career,” the team wrote. “Rest in peace, Ryan. You will always be a part of the Bulldog family.”
