LAFAYETTE PARISH, La. — Tragedy struck Tuesday morning, October 21, 2025, when a small aircraft crashed into a field near Gloria Switch Road and LA Highway 93, claiming the lives of three people from Texas.
According to the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office, the victims have been identified as Bruce Verduyn, 58, of The Woodlands, Lydia Laws, 46, of Spring, and Justin Ramsey, 42, of The Woodlands. Authorities said the plane, a Beechcraft Baron twin-engine aircraft, went down just after 11 a.m. after reportedly circling in the air and losing altitude.
Flight data from FlightAware indicates the plane, bearing tail number N16PV, departed Hooks Memorial Airport near Houston at 9:53 a.m. Its final radar signal ended near the Lafayette crash site around 11:01 a.m.
Emergency crews responded quickly but found the aircraft destroyed upon arrival. All three occupants were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have launched investigations to determine what caused the fatal crash. Officials have not yet released additional information pending the outcome of the inquiry.
The tragic accident has left both the Texas and Louisiana communities mourning the loss of three lives taken far too soon.
