Westland, Mich. – Authorities are investigating a tragic crash that claimed the life of 25-year-old Kyle Reames early Tuesday morning.
According to the Westland Police Department, the accident occurred just before 6 a.m. at the intersection of Wayne and Warren roads. Investigators say Kyle was riding his bicycle through the crosswalk when he was struck by a box truck turning from southbound Wayne onto eastbound Warren. Emergency responders attempted life-saving measures, but Kyle was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the driver of the box truck stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. At this time, no citations or arrests have been made as authorities continue to gather evidence and review nearby surveillance footage to determine the cause of the crash.
Family members describe Kyle as a hardworking and kind young man who regularly rode his bike to work and always took safety precautions. His sudden passing has deeply impacted his loved ones, especially following the recent loss of his father.
