KINGFISHER COUNTY, Okla. — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is appealing for public assistance after a heartbreaking crash on Thursday afternoon claimed the life of 36-year-old Brandon Friday of Yukon.
The incident occurred between 2:00 and 2:15 p.m. on State Highway 33 near N2960 Road. Investigators say a westbound vehicle was struck through the windshield by a large piece of wood that broke loose from another vehicle traveling ahead. The impact fatally injured Brandon Friday.
Authorities reported that the passenger acted heroically, taking control of the steering wheel and braking the vehicle after the driver was hit. The driver of the vehicle carrying the wood has been identified as 45-year-old Roberto Lopez Perez of Enid.
OHP is urging anyone with dashcam footage or information to come forward. An activity bus was seen traveling westbound through the area ahead of Friday’s vehicle, and investigators hope to review any video it may have captured.
