ARLINGTON, Wis. — Authorities have identified the two drivers who were killed in a devastating two-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon in the Town of Arlington. The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the victims as 47-year-old Gregory Dellmann and 40-year-old Jesus Cabrera Gallegos, both of Poynette.
According to Captain David Clark, the crash occurred around 3:00 p.m. on October 21, 2025, on WIBU Road near Kampen Road. Dispatchers received multiple 911 calls reporting a serious collision involving two heavily damaged vehicles, one of which had caught fire.
A sheriff’s deputy arrived within minutes and made heroic efforts to extricate the driver from the burning vehicle and extinguish the flames, but both attempts were unsuccessful due to the extent of the damage and the stage of the fire. Firefighters from the Arlington Fire Department quickly arrived and were able to put out the blaze.
Each vehicle was occupied by a lone driver, and tragically, both were pronounced deceased at the scene.
Preliminary findings from crash investigators indicate that Dellmann was driving a Ford SUV northbound on WIBU Road, while Cabrera Gallegos was driving a Toyota Camry southbound. Evidence from the scene suggests that the Toyota crossed the center line as both vehicles crested a small hill, leading to a near head-on collision.
“This is a tragic incident for all involved,” Captain Clark said. “Please keep the first responders and the families and friends of the deceased in your thoughts and prayers.”
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Poynette Police Department, Arlington Fire and EMS, Deforest Fire Department, the Columbia and Dane County Medical Examiner’s Offices, the Columbia County Highway Department, and Brown’s Towing.
In loving memory of Gregory Dellmann and Jesus Cabrera Gallegos, two lives lost far too soon. May their families, friends, and the Poynette community find comfort and strength in the days ahead.
