Robeson County, N.C. – The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office, along with several assisting law enforcement agencies, is investigating a mass shooting that occurred late Friday night just outside of Maxton, North Carolina.

According to Sheriff Burnis Wilkins, the shooting took place during a large gathering on Dixon Drive near McGirt Gin Road. Deputies say approximately 13 people were shot during the incident, and two victims have been confirmed dead.

Authorities report that an estimated 150 people fled the scene before law enforcement arrived, creating challenges for investigators attempting to gather witness statements. Sheriff Wilkins confirmed that the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and stated there is no ongoing threat to the community.

As of now, no arrests have been made, and details about potential suspects or a motive have not been released. Detectives are working diligently to identify those responsible and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
