DeKalb County, Georgia — Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Sunday morning near a gas station on the 3000 block of Moreland Avenue. Officers were called to the scene at approximately 2:27 a.m. following reports of gunfire.

When first responders arrived, they found a woman suffering from life-threatening injuries. Emergency medical personnel attempted to provide care, but the woman, later identified as Kinaya Hightower, had already passed away. Preliminary reports indicate that she was not involved in the altercation and was caught in the crossfire.

According to investigators, the incident occurred during a car meet-up that escalated into gunfire. Those responsible fled the scene before police arrived. Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage and speaking with witnesses to identify those involved. No arrests have been made so far, and the investigation is ongoing.
