It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of Jax Affolter, who was killed in a head-on crash early Saturday morning, October 25, 2025, near Stacy Trail and Ivywood Trail in Chisago City. The accident also left several other teenagers seriously injured.

Jax was a bright, kind, and passionate young man — a beloved son, brother, friend, and teammate whose presence brought warmth and energy to everyone around him. His love for hockey and dedication to his team were unmatched. As a proud member of the Chisago Lakes Hockey Association, Jax embodied teamwork, sportsmanship, and the spirit of community both on and off the ice.

The Chisago Lakes Hockey family is heartbroken by this devastating loss. We stand united in support of Jax’s family during this incredibly difficult time. His younger brother, who plays in our Mite program, continues to carry forward Jax’s love for the game that connected so many of us.

To honor Jax’s memory, we invite everyone to put their hockey sticks outside and leave a light on tonight — a simple yet powerful tribute to one of our own.

A Meal Train has been created to help the Affolter family as they navigate the days ahead:
