OSHKOSH, Wis — Authorities confirmed the discovery of a man’s body in Lake Winnebago on Saturday, October 25, 2025, after receiving reports of suspicious items and clothing floating off shore. The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were dispatched at 11:32 a.m. to the Mill Street Boat Launch in Oshkosh following the report.
Officials were informed that the items were located approximately 50 feet from shore, southeast of the Fox River’s mouth. Deputies launched a boat to investigate and confirmed the objects were a human body, which was immediately pronounced deceased. Family members have since identified the victim as Victor Krause.
Authorities stated that the investigation is active and ongoing, and no further details regarding the circumstances of his death have been released. Deputies continue to gather information and ask anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office.
