LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. — The Lexington County Coroner’s Office has identified the teen who tragically lost his life in a single-vehicle crash on Jim Spence Road early Sunday morning.

According to Coroner Margaret Fisher, 17-year-old George Hall Gomez Jr., of Leesville, was traveling southbound in the 1600 block of Jim Spence Road at approximately 5:25 a.m. on October 26, 2025, when he veered off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree. Emergency responders transported Mr. Gomez to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced deceased from injuries sustained in the crash. Coroner Fisher confirmed that he was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol, in partnership with the Lexington County Coroner’s Office, continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Authorities have not released additional details at this time.

Mr. Gomez was remembered by his family and community as a bright, caring, and vibrant young man whose life was tragically cut short. Friends, classmates, and neighbors have expressed their shock and sadness over the sudden loss, sharing condolences and memories on social media and in the local community.
