HARVEY, N.D. — It is with heavy hearts that the Harvey community mourns the tragic loss of 47-year-old Mark Mears, whose life was cut short in a devastating two-vehicle crash on Friday afternoon, October 31, 2025.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the fatal accident occurred around 12:53 p.m. at the uncontrolled intersection of 29th Street NE and 39th Avenue NE, northeast of Harvey. Authorities say Mears was driving a pickup truck eastbound on 29th Street NE when it collided with a combine, operated by 23-year-old Ethan Arnold of Harvey, who was traveling southbound on 39th Avenue NE. Neither vehicle yielded at the intersection, leading to a tragic collision.

Despite immediate response efforts, Mark Mears was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the combine, Ethan Arnold, was not injured. The North Dakota Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Mark Mears will be remembered as a kind, hardworking, and caring man who touched the lives of those around him. His sudden passing has left a deep void in the hearts of his family, friends, and community.
