Sanford, FL — A tragic shooting in Sanford on Saturday afternoon left one person dead and another injured, according to the Sanford Police Department.
Police said they were called to the area of 14th Street and Mangoustine Avenue just after 3:30 p.m. for reports of gunfire. When officers arrived, they found 22-year-old La-Don Ja’Quan Williams suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Williams was rushed to a nearby hospital, but despite medical efforts, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival, authorities confirmed.
A second person later arrived at a local hospital with a minor injury related to the shooting. Police have not released that individual’s name or any details about what may have led to the gunfire.
Investigators are treating the incident as a homicide and are asking for the community’s help in piecing together what happened.
“We need anyone who saw or heard anything to come forward. Even the smallest detail could help bring answers to this young man’s family,” investigators said.
