PLANO, Texas — The Plano Police Department is investigating a deadly single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a 25-year-old man late Saturday night. Authorities identified the victim as Alex Rangle of Plano.

The crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. near the intersection of 14th Street and Los Rios Boulevard. According to police, a white Chevrolet Silverado was traveling southbound on La Paz Drive and attempted to make a left turn onto 14th Street at a high rate of speed. Investigators believe the driver lost control of the vehicle during the turn, causing the truck to skid and strike a wooden power pole.

The impact caused significant damage to the passenger side of the pickup, where Rangle was seated. Emergency responders arrived within minutes and found both occupants inside the wreckage. Despite life-saving efforts, Alex Rangle was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of his injuries.

The driver of the Silverado was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The extent of the driver’s injuries has not yet been disclosed, and officials have not released their name at this time. Police say speed was likely a major contributing factor in the crash.

The area around 14th Street and Los Rios Boulevard was temporarily closed overnight as officers with the Plano Police Department’s Traffic Division documented the scene and began reconstructing the events that led to the collision.

Authorities have not yet determined whether impairment played a role, and the investigation remains active.

This tragic incident has left the Plano community mourning the loss of Alex Rangle, remembered by friends and family as a kind and spirited young man whose life ended far too soon. Police are urging drivers to slow down, stay alert, and exercise caution, especially when traveling through residential areas or making turns at higher speeds.
