POOLER, Ga. (November 1, 2025) — The Pooler community is mourning the tragic loss of 48-year-old Montique E. Jenkins, who was killed in a deadly shooting Saturday afternoon on Arnold Street. A suspect has been taken into custody, according to the Pooler Police Department.
Officers were called to the home around 3:30 p.m. following reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they discovered Jenkins suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Sadly, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Chatham County Coroner’s Office confirmed Jenkins’ identity Saturday night and said an autopsy has been scheduled as part of the ongoing investigation.
Authorities stated that the victim and suspect were known to each other, and investigators believe this was an isolated incident. Police reassured residents that there is no threat to the general public.
The suspect, whose name has not yet been released, was taken into custody without incident. The Pooler Police Department and Chatham County Coroner’s Office continue to work closely to determine what led to the fatal shooting.
