GRAVES COUNTY, Ky — The Graves County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a devastating two-vehicle collision in the Pilot Oak community, south of Mayfield, which resulted in the death of 52-year-old Ronald Minor of Puryear, Tennessee.

According to authorities, the incident occurred when 26-year-old Jose Ruiz of Union City, Tennessee, was driving eastbound on KY 94 West in a 2017 Toyota Corolla. Ruiz stopped at the intersection of KY 94 and KY 129, but when he attempted a left turn onto KY 94 West, his vehicle entered the path of a southbound 2002 Harley-Davidson motorcycle being operated by Ronald Minor. The collision was severe and caused Minor to be ejected from his motorcycle, resulting in life-threatening injuries.

Emergency responders immediately arrived on the scene. Minor was first transported to Murray-Calloway County Hospital and then airlifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville for advanced medical care. Tragically, despite the best efforts of medical personnel, Minor succumbed to his injuries.

Ruiz and his passenger, 23-year-old Diego Olague, both of Union City, were reported to have sustained no injuries from the collision.

The investigation was led by Deputy Zac Smith with assistance from Sgt. Ben Doran, the Kentucky State Police, Mayfield/Graves County EMS, and the Sedalia and Cuba Fire Departments. Authorities are continuing to gather details regarding the circumstances that led to this fatal crash.

The Graves County Sheriff’s Office extended its deepest condolences to the Minor family, recognizing the profound loss they have suffered. The office emphasized the tragedy of losing a life in such a sudden and unexpected manner and thanked first responders for their swift action in assisting at the scene.
