According to the Riviera Beach Police Department (RBPD), the collision occurred just before 3 p.m. in the 600 block of West Blue Heron Boulevard, a busy stretch of roadway known for heavy traffic. Officers responded after receiving reports of a serious accident involving two teenagers on a small, non-street-legal mini bike and a Nissan Sentra.
Investigators say Lindy Douglas, a resident of Riviera Beach, was operating the mini bike while Joell Banks, of Loxahatchee, rode as a passenger. The teens were traveling eastbound when, for reasons still under investigation, the bike crossed into the westbound lanes and into the path of the oncoming Nissan. Police noted that the car was traveling above the posted speed limit when the impact occurred.
Both Douglas and Banks were ejected from the bike upon impact.
