CHICAGO, IL — A heartbreaking act of violence took the life of 17-year-old Rodrigo Franco on Sunday evening, November 2, 2025, after he was fatally shot inside a Burger King in the Archer Heights neighborhood.
According to Chicago police, the shooting happened around 7:05 p.m. at the restaurant located at 4060 S. Pulaski Road. Investigators say Rodrigo was inside when someone in a Jeep SUV pulled up and opened fire toward the building, striking him in the head.
Emergency crews arrived and transported Rodrigo to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified him Monday morning.
The shooter fled the scene immediately after the gunfire, and no arrests have been made at this time. Police said Area One detectives are handling the investigation and are working to determine a motive behind the attack.
The senseless killing has left the community in mourning, as loved ones remember Rodrigo as a bright, kind young man whose life was taken far too soon. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to help bring justice to his grieving family.
