THIBODAUX, La. — An 81-year-old Thibodaux woman, Lois Blanchard, tragically lost her life in a pedestrian-involved crash on Louisiana Highway 20 near Colonial Drive on the evening of November 1, 2025. The incident occurred shortly after 9 p.m., prompting an investigation by Louisiana State Police Troop C.
Preliminary reports indicate that a 1994 Buick Park Avenue was traveling south on LA Highway 20 in the left lane when Blanchard was standing in the same lane. For reasons that remain under investigation, the vehicle struck Blanchard, causing serious injuries. She was transported to a nearby hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The driver of the Buick was not injured and is not suspected of impairment. The driver voluntarily submitted a breath sample that showed no alcohol present. A standard toxicology sample was collected from Blanchard and sent for analysis as part of the ongoing investigation.
