WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The Winston-Salem community is heartbroken after the tragic loss of 19-year-old Cameron Demon Napper, Jr., who was fatally shot early Monday morning.

According to a release from the Winston-Salem Police Department, officers responded to a call reporting a shooting on Bertha Street around 3 a.m. When they arrived, they found Napper suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the swift response of emergency medical personnel, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have launched a homicide investigation and continue to search for answers surrounding the senseless act of violence that claimed Napper’s life. No arrests have been made at this time, and detectives are urging anyone with information to contact Winston-Salem Crime Stoppers or the Major Crimes Division.

Family, friends, and neighbors describe Cameron as a kind-hearted and ambitious young man whose presence could light up any room. He had dreams and goals he was working toward—dreams now painfully cut short. His loss leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
