LIVINGSTON, Texas (November 2, 2025) — A tragic discovery late Saturday night has left the Livingston community grieving, as authorities confirmed that the two individuals found deceased inside a vehicle along the U.S. 59 bypass were 31-year-old Adelia Garcia and her young son.

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the heartbreaking scene unfolded between 10:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. on November 1, when a deputy noticed a small silver Ford parked along the shoulder near the John Deere dealership. When the deputy stopped to investigate, the devastating truth was revealed — both Adelia and her son were found lifeless inside the vehicle.

The Livingston Police Department has taken the lead in the investigation and described the case as a possible murder-suicide. Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Texas Rangers, Polk County Sheriff’s Office, and Texas Highway Patrol. Justice of the Peace Terri Mayer conducted the inquests, and the bodies were transported by Cochran Funeral Home. The vehicle was towed by LakeView Towing of Livingston.

“It is with a heavy heart that I share the news that my sister and nephew have been located, but tragically, they have passed away,” wrote Adelia’s sister, Abby, in a statement. “I am grateful for the support from everyone who shared my previous post. Please continue to keep my family in your thoughts and prayers.”

Adelia was remembered as a devoted mother whose love for her son was unwavering. Friends described her as kind, warm, and full of light — someone who brought joy to everyone she met.
