NORTH PRESTON, N.S. — The RCMP/HRP Integrated Major Crime Unit is investigating a deadly shooting that claimed the life of 28-year-old Jayden Tynes on Saturday, November 2.

According to the RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment, officers and Emergency Health Services (EHS) were called to the area of Cain Street and Clarence Street at approximately 4:58 p.m. following reports of shots fired.

Upon arrival, police found Jayden Tynes suffering from gunshot wounds. He was rushed to the hospital by paramedics, but despite emergency medical care, he died from his injuries a short time later.

The investigation is being led by the RCMP/HRP Integrated Major Crime Unit, with assistance from the Integrated General Investigative Section, RCMP Forensic Identification Services, and the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service.

Police are appealing to the public for information and are particularly interested in dashcam footage from anyone who was traveling in the area of Cain Street and Clarence Street between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. on the day of the shooting.

The investigation remains active and ongoing as police work to determine the circumstances surrounding Jayden Tynes’ death.
