It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Mr. James Welch, beloved Athletic Director, coach, and mentor at Peck Community Schools, who tragically passed away on November 6, 2025, due to an unforeseen medical circumstance. Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of a remarkable leader whose dedication and kindness touched the lives of countless students, staff, and community members.
Mr. Welch was more than an administrator—he was a mentor, a father figure, and a source of guidance and inspiration for generations of student-athletes. His commitment to excellence, teamwork, and character development went far beyond the gymnasium and playing fields, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him. He led with integrity, compassion, and unwavering devotion, always putting students and their well-being first.
Our deepest condolences go out to his loving family—his wife Shane, his son Grady, and all who loved him—during this incredibly difficult time. As a mark of respect and to support students through this loss, school will not be in session on November 7, 2025, and support staff will be available from 9 a.m. to noon for any student in need of guidance or counseling. Families are encouraged to reach out to the high school office for assistance.
The entire Sandusky Wolves family stands with Peck Community Schools in grief, offering love, support, and solidarity during this painful time. Mr. Welch’s legacy of leadership, mentorship, and dedication to his students will never be forgotten.
Though his life was taken too soon, the lessons he imparted, the encouragement he offered, and the lives he touched will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Rest in peace, Mr. James Welch—you will forever be remembered and cherished.
