HOPE HULL, Ala  — The Montgomery community is mourning the tragic loss of 58-year-old Nathan C. Griggs, who was killed Friday morning in a devastating fiery crash involving a pickup truck and an 18-wheeler in Montgomery County.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the collision occurred shortly after 10 a.m. near Hyundai Boulevard and Mobile Highway in Hope Hull. Investigators say Griggs was driving a 2022 International tractor-trailer when it was struck by a 2015 Ford F-250 pickup driven by a 37-year-old Prattville man. The violent impact caused both vehicles to catch fire and become fully engulfed in flames.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene as thick black smoke billowed into the sky, shutting down traffic in the area. Despite the quick response from first responders, Nathan Griggs was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford F-250 was transported to a Montgomery hospital with injuries, though the extent of those injuries has not been released.

The Highway Patrol Division of ALEA continues to investigate the cause of the crash, working to determine what led to the tragic collision that claimed Nathan’s life. The aftermath of the crash left behind a haunting scene — a reminder of how quickly lives can change in an instant.

Nathan C. Griggs was more than just a truck driver; he was a beloved member of the Montgomery community — a hardworking man known for his dedication, kindness, and unwavering love for his family and friends. To those who knew him, Nathan was someone who could always be counted on. His gentle spirit, strong work ethic, and warm heart touched everyone who crossed his path.

Friends and loved ones describe Nathan as a man who carried himself with quiet strength and humility. He was proud of his work and took joy in the simple things — sharing stories with coworkers, lending a helping hand, and spending time with those he loved most. His unexpected passing has left a deep void in the hearts of his family, colleagues, and community.

As investigators continue to search for answers, those closest to Nathan are left holding onto cherished memories of his laughter, his kindness, and the love he shared so freely. Though his life ended far too soon, his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

In loving memory of Nathan C. Griggs — a son, a friend, and a hardworking soul taken too soon. May he rest in eternal peace, and may his family find comfort in the love and prayers surrounding them during this time of unimaginable loss.
