CAROLINE COUNTY, Va. — Authorities are investigating a heartbreaking crash that claimed the lives of two women Sunday afternoon in Caroline County.
According to the Virginia State Police, the accident occurred around 12:50 p.m. on the 16000 block of Pepmeier Hill Road, about half a mile east of Santee Road. A Chevrolet Equinox driven by 70-year-old Phyllis D. Washington of Academy, Virginia, was traveling east when it veered off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree.
Washington and her passenger, 70-year-old Nora Sabrina Clinton of Supply, Virginia, were both transported to a nearby hospital, where they sadly succumbed to their injuries.
The Virginia State Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Authorities have not released additional details as of yet.
Both women are being remembered by family and friends as kind-hearted, loving individuals whose presence brought warmth and light to everyone who knew them. Their loss leaves a deep void in the hearts of their loved ones and their community.
