MIAMI, Fla. — The FBI has launched an investigation after a passenger was found dead aboard the Carnival Horizon cruise ship, which had been sailing the Caribbean with nearly 4,000 guests. The ship returned to PortMiami on Saturday morning as scheduled.
According to Carnival Cruise Line, company officials are fully cooperating with the FBI’s Miami field office. Investigators were observed removing a body from the ship and placing it into a van from the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s Office.
Authorities have not officially released the name of the deceased or the cause of death. However, multiple social media posts from friends and family identify the passenger as 18-year-old Anna Kepner of Titusville, Florida. The FBI has not indicated whether foul play is suspected.
This remains a developing story, and updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
My thoughts and prayers are with Anna Kepner’s family and loved ones during this heartbreaking time, as they navigate the loss of a young life taken far too soon.
