BESSEMER, Ala – A tragic crash early Sunday morning claimed the lives of 50-year-old Charles Devon Lockett and 35-year-old Denterrius Deon Hill, both residents of Bessemer. The deadly collision occurred around 5 a.m. in the 2500 block of Carolina Terrace, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.
Authorities report that Lockett was driving the vehicle when it left the roadway, striking a utility pole and then a tree with tremendous force. When first responders arrived, they found both men unresponsive. Despite immediate efforts to render aid, both were pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of their injuries.
The Bessemer Police Department has launched an investigation to determine what caused the fatal crash. While it remains unclear whether weather, speed, or mechanical issues played a role, investigators are working to reconstruct the events leading up to the impact.
