7 People Hospitalized After Shooting at Lakewood Park
LAKEWOOD, WA — What started as a sunny day at Harry Todd Park turned into a scene of chaos and fear after gunfire broke out, leaving seven people hospitalized. According to Lakewood Police, the shooting appears to have been sparked by an argument between two groups gathered at the park.
The terrifying moment was caught on video by a bystander, who initially thought the gunshots were fireworks. Panic quickly spread as families scrambled for cover, calling out for loved ones and trying to get to safety.
“It was like a nightmare,” one witness said. “People were running in every direction, trying to figure out where the shots were coming from.”
Police arrived on the scene quickly and confirmed that seven people were injured and taken to nearby hospitals. The extent of their injuries has not yet been released.
Detectives are actively following up on multiple leads and tips from witnesses as they work to identify the person or people responsible. So far, no arrests have been made, but investigators believe the shooting was not random.
“This kind of violence has no place in our community — especially not in a public park where families gather,” a Lakewood Police spokesperson said. “We are committed to finding out who did this.”
The incident has left the Lakewood community shaken, with residents calling for increased safety measures and a stronger police presence in public spaces.
Anyone with information or video footage related to the shooting is urged to contact Lakewood Police or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
