Father Arrested After Daughter Fatally Shot Inside Richmond Apartment
RICHMOND, Va. — A Richmond man is facing serious charges after his daughter was found shot and killed inside a South Harrison Street apartment over the weekend.
On the morning of Saturday, May 31, just before 10 a.m., officers with the Richmond Police Department responded to reports of an armed individual at an apartment located in the 700 block of South Harrison Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered 22-year-old Alicia Ellis lying unresponsive on the floor with a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Tragically, police have arrested Alicia’s father, 55-year-old Alonzo Ellis, in connection with the fatal shooting. He has been charged with discharging a firearm within an occupied dwelling and child neglect. Authorities have indicated that additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation continues.
