Heartbreaking Loss: Whitney Purvis Mourns the Death of Her Son, Weston Gosa Jr., at 16

It is with profound sadness that we share the news that Weston Gosa Jr., the beloved son of 16 and Pregnant alum Whitney Purvis, has passed away at the young age of 16. Weston died on June 2, 2025, leaving his family and friends devastated by the sudden and tragic loss.

Whitney, who appeared on MTV’s 16 and Pregnant in 2009, shared the heartbreaking update in a Facebook post:

“This is so hard to write. My beautiful son, Weston, has passed away. Life is so cruel and unfair. I just don’t understand. Oh, my baby is gone, and I don’t know what to do with myself. He was so perfect. This is really my worst nightmare come true.”

Weston was found unresponsive early Sunday morning. Emergency responders and family members attempted life-saving efforts, but he was later pronounced dead at a hospital in Gordon County, Georgia. An official cause of death has not yet been released, and an autopsy is pending.

Family members say Weston had been facing health challenges, including a diagnosis of Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, a rare genetic condition affecting the lungs and liver, as well as diabetes.

Born on April 2, 2009, Weston’s life journey was shared with the world when Whitney’s episode of 16 and Pregnant aired, chronicling her experience as a teenage mother. Over the years, she has continued to be a vocal advocate for her son and a devoted parent, often sharing their bond with supporters.

In the wake of Weston’s passing, tributes have poured in on social media, honoring him as a bright, kind-hearted young man with endless potential. Friends and family have described him as funny, thoughtful, and full of promise.

This tragic loss has left a void that can never be filled. As the Purvis family grieves, they have asked for privacy and prayers during this unimaginable time.

Rest in peace, Weston Gosa Jr.

You were deeply loved and will never be forgotten.
