WAVERLY, Louisiana – With heavy hearts, we mourn the untimely passing of Charles Moore, 26, of Meridian, Mississippi, who tragically lost his life in the early hours of Thursday morning, July 10, 2025, following a devastating crash on Interstate 20, just west of Louisiana Highway 557.
According to Louisiana State Police Troop F, the fatal incident occurred shortly before 5:00 a.m. Charles was operating a 2024 International commercial motor vehicle, traveling westbound, when his vehicle veered to the right and collided with the rear of a parked 2017 Freightliner on the shoulder. The impact forced his truck off the roadway, where it struck a tree.
Despite being properly restrained, Charles Moore did not survive the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have stated that impairment is not currently suspected, though routine toxicology samples were taken as part of the ongoing investigation.
Charles was a hardworking young man whose dedication to his profession and family was evident in everything he did. His loss is deeply felt by those who knew and loved him—family members, friends, and colleagues alike. His absence leaves a void that words cannot fill.
This tragedy is a stark and painful reminder of the critical importance of staying alert and focused behind the wheel—especially on long hauls and early morning drives. A single moment of distraction or fatigue can forever change lives.
As the investigation continues, the community pauses to honor the memory of Charles Moore. May his life be remembered with love, and may his story inspire greater caution, care, and compassion on the road.
Our deepest condolences go out to all who are grieving the loss of this young life taken far too soon.
