CLINTON, Tenn. — Authorities have identified the victim in a fatal pedestrian incident on Haney Hollow Road as 37-year-old Wanda S. Phillips of Clinton, according to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the case. Officials stated that additional information will be released as it becomes available.
The incident occurred around 1:15 a.m. Sunday in the 100 block of Haney Hollow Road, located in the Marlow community. The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, responded to reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle.
Phillips was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for treatment but did not survive her injuries.
Authorities confirmed that a male suspect has been detained and remains in custody pending further investigation. The scene was marked as an active crime scene overnight as detectives collected evidence and interviewed witnesses.
The Sheriff’s Office has not released details about the suspect’s identity, possible charges, or what may have led to the incident. Officials urge anyone with additional information to contact investigators as the case remains ongoing.
