EL PASO, Texas — A fatal crash on Interstate 10 West claimed the life of a motorcyclist Sunday night, prompting an investigation by the El Paso Police Department’s Special Traffic Investigations unit.
The accident happened on August 31, 2025, near mile marker 33. According to investigators, the victim, identified as Alejandro ‘Alex’ Rodriguez an employee of ABM Aviation at the El Paso International Airport., was traveling westbound on a motorcycle when another vehicle, referred to as Unit #1, struck him from behind. The impact caused Rodriguez to be ejected from his motorcycle. Despite immediate response, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Authorities have not yet released details regarding the driver of the vehicle that rear-ended Rodriguez. Investigators are working to determine the contributing factors leading to the collision, including whether speed, impairment, or distracted driving played a role.
This tragedy marks El Paso’s 41st traffic fatality of 2025, compared to 44 at the same time last year. Police continue urging motorists to exercise caution, maintain safe following distances, and remain alert while on the road to prevent future tragedies.
