JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – Authorities have identified the teenager killed in a Sunday evening shooting in Johnstown that is now being investigated as a possible case of self-defense.

Investigators confirmed Monday that the victim was 17-year-old Aquon Tillman, who died in the operating room at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees said the cause of death was massive blood loss from multiple gunshot wounds.

Police responded to reports of shots fired around 7 p.m. near Buildings 14 and 15 of Solomon Homes. Based on evidence and witness statements, investigators believe at least two firearms were involved, including one belonging to Tillman, which has not yet been recovered.

Cambria County District Attorney Greg Neugebauer said the individual who fired the fatal shots has been identified and is cooperating with investigators. The firearm used has been surrendered to authorities.

Neugebauer added that the shooting is under review as a “possible justified use of force in defense of self and/or others pursuant to Pennsylvania’s Stand Your Ground Law and general self-defense principles.”

No arrests have been made at this time. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Johnstown Police Department Bureau of Criminal Investigations at (814) 539-2504.
