TUCSON, Ariz — A fatal crash on Tucson’s southside early Friday morning left one woman dead and three others injured, according to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
The collision occurred around 4:30 a.m. on August 30 near the intersection of East Drexel Road and South Palo Verde Road. Deputies say the driver of a car, 25-year-old Fran Molina, struck the back end of a flatbed tow truck while traveling northbound on South Palo Verde.
Molina was pronounced dead at the scene. The tow truck driver was not hurt in the crash. Three passengers inside Molina’s vehicle were taken to the hospital with what authorities described as minor injuries.
Investigators believe speed and impairment may have been contributing factors. The Sheriff’s Department has not released additional details, but the case remains under active investigation.
This tragic crash highlights ongoing concerns about impaired and reckless driving in Pima County. Officials continue to urge drivers to slow down, remain alert, and avoid getting behind the wheel while under the influence.
