TARRANT, Ala. — Authorities have identified the woman killed in a holiday weekend shooting that targeted a home in Tarrant.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office confirmed the victim as 35-year-old Kristy Denise Harrison of Birmingham.

Police said the shooting happened around 10:40 p.m. Saturday, August 30, in the 1400 block of Ford Avenue. According to investigators, someone drove past the home and opened fire, striking Harrison multiple times. She was pronounced dead at the scene just minutes later at 10:49 p.m.

Officials believe Harrison, who was attending a gathering at the home, was not the intended target.

Police Chief Wendell Major said the violence stemmed from an earlier dispute involving two women and a vehicle. That confrontation, which took place around 4 p.m., included threats and gunfire aimed at the same residence, though no one was injured. Hours later, suspects returned and unleashed a hail of bullets before fleeing.

No arrests have been made. This marks Tarrant’s second homicide of 2025.

Authorities are asking anyone with information to call the Tarrant Police Department at 205-849-2811 or submit tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
