LIBERTY CITY, Texas — A devastating incident at Hugh Camp Memorial Park on Monday afternoon left a father and his teenage daughter dead, authorities confirmed.
Hailey Nicole Blake, 16, and her father, Shawn Glen Blake, 49, were fatally shot at the park, succumbing to their injuries at the scene. Law enforcement officials say the shooting appears to have been a targeted attack, not a random act of violence.
A third individual, identified as Christopher Wayne Hicks Jr., believed to be Hailey’s boyfriend, was hospitalized with life-threatening, apparently self-inflicted injuries.
The Gregg County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of multiple victims, coordinating with Christus EMS and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers to provide life-saving measures. Two off-duty first responders who were at the park also assisted, though they were not involved in the incident.
Chief Deputy Craig Harrington described the attack as deliberate, emphasizing that no other injuries were reported beyond the three directly involved.
Authorities are urging anyone with information or who witnessed the incident to contact the Gregg County Sheriff’s Office to assist in the ongoing investigation.
