PRAGUE, Neb. — The Saunders County Sheriff’s Office has identified Marvin Ourada, 76, as the victim of a tragic single-vehicle crash that occurred Monday afternoon along Highway 79 near Prague.
According to authorities, the accident happened around 12:15 p.m. Ourada was driving a silver Chevrolet Trailblazer southbound when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle veered off the road and into a ditch on the west side of the highway. The SUV then struck a driveway embankment and rolled. Ourada was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials noted he was not wearing a seat belt at the time, which likely contributed to the severity of the crash.
Preliminary reports suggest a medical emergency may have played a role, though mechanical issues and environmental factors have not been ruled out. The Trailblazer sustained significant damage from the embankment impact and rollover. Authorities continue to investigate, reviewing medical reports, roadway conditions, and vehicle inspections to determine the cause.
Marvin Ourada was a longtime resident of the Prague area, and his passing has deeply affected the community. Friends and neighbors have expressed their condolences to his family. Authorities are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or the vehicle prior to the incident to contact the Saunders County Sheriff’s Office to assist with the ongoing investigation.
This tragic accident highlights the importance of seat belt use and cautious driving, even on familiar rural roads.
