KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City police have identified the man fatally shot in east Kansas City last week. Officers responded around 7:40 a.m. on August 27 to reports of a shooting near E. 23rd Street and Topping Avenue.
At Blue Valley Park, officers found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition, but tragically, he was pronounced dead shortly afterward. Authorities have confirmed the victim as 44-year-old Sean Booth.
Police say investigators were tipped off to a person of interest, who has since been taken into custody. Officials also confirmed that there is no ongoing threat to the public or to visitors of the park.
