Fatal Crash on Interstate 81 in Schuylkill County Claims Life of Kingston Man

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, Pa. — Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville are investigating a deadly crash that occurred Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 81 northbound in Butler Township.

The crash happened around 2:24 p.m. near mile marker 119.4. Authorities report that a 2013 GMC Acadia, driven by 81-year-old Esau Foster of Kingston, was traveling northbound behind a 1992 Kenworth tractor-trailer operated by 61-year-old Keith Musselman Jr. of Harrison, Ohio.

Police said Foster’s vehicle was straddling both lanes when it struck the rear driver’s side tire of the tractor-trailer. The Acadia then rolled several times before coming to rest in the grass median facing east.

Foster was extricated from the vehicle and transported by Frackville Community Ambulance to Lehigh Valley Hospital–Schuylkill East. He was later airlifted to Lehigh Valley Hospital–Cedar Crest, where he sadly succumbed to his injuries. The Lehigh Valley Coroner’s Office pronounced him deceased.

Musselman, the tractor-trailer driver, was unharmed.
